Congresswoman Miller offers internships in her Washington, DC office throughout the fall, spring, and summer. The fall term is typically September-December, the spring term is January-May, and the summer term is May-August. Hours are flexible to accommodate students’ course schedules but are typically 9:00 am to 6:00 pm when Congress is in session, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm when Congress is not in session. Full-time candidates are preferred but all will be considered.
Interns will be asked to provide Capitol tours to constituents, answer phones, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, run errands, and attend hearings and briefings. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. In addition to gaining invaluable work experience, interns are eligible to receive a stipend or academic credit. Short-term unpaid shadowing opportunities are also offered at limited availability. We encourage prospective interns to submit their application at least two months before the start of their anticipated term.
